Our first look into the final idea we will have. All the characters are present and the rough outline has been done further. We realise we need to work a lot on costume, mise-en-scene and shot variety.
Grade C+ The very obvious strength is the cellar mise-en-scene + light effect - but the long single take ruins its impact. Shot variety is critical. Scenes literally just in the dark are rather pointless, and won't gain marks. Elsewhere there's shakiness in filming, and maybe a lack of care with costume Body language is key - and this is down to good directing as much as acting - but again the acting is much too languid, relaxed when its meant to be a tense scene with characters terrified. Its a long way from the iconic runny nose of Blair Witch! What you have works best when short takes are used. Crosscutting needs to be further explored - and again you need to re-view and scrutinise existing examples to be confident you are reflecting conventions. At the moment you'll struggle to get an audience to follow your preferred reading.
